I am a huge advocate of social media.  In my previous careers in sales and marketing I did the traditional cold calling and networking events and did pretty well.  However my sales never really took off.  I had heard a lot of buzz about social media, but never thought that it would really work for businesses.  So, I took a chance and decided to apply social media to my sales cycle with my employers at the time and my sales started to take off.  Now my previous career consisted of recruiting and HR Consulting, both traditional businesses.  I took the initiative to learn about all the different types of social media and talked with all sort of professionals.  With all of the information that I learned I took bits and pieces and tried to develop my own strategies.  After several failed attempts I now have several solid guaranteed successful strategies that have led me to where I am today with my career as an HR Expert.  

People started to notice my exposure and the amount of activity that I was generating and asked if I could speak at their company, events, organizations, etc.  Now I have at least one public speaking arrangement every week throughout the midwest.
